Painting Finger

Every child is an artist.

Pablo Picasso remarked about children's creativity, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." At Shelly Gifford Studio, our classes with children through their teenage years give them the encouragement and guidance to retain their individual artistic creativity.

Have you read about Marla Olmstead?

Here's a link to the website of Marla Olmstead.
Marla Olmstead likes flowers, the color yellow and pigs. She will tell you all about them. Sitting beside her little brother, Zane, on the floor of her bedroom where the ceiling is painted with clouds and a Matisse print hangs over her bed, she talks about all sorts of things that are on her 4-year-old mind.

"I really, really like piggies," she says. "Me too!" says Zane, 2. "And making paintings," she says. "Me too!" Zane says.

...

Painting with her fingers, spatulas and brushes, and using plastic mustard and ketchup bottles to squirt out acrylics, she creates textured, abstract landscapes laden with emotion, depth and yes, real talent.
Isn't it great to see kids getting involved in art?
